Application for the Göteborg International Organ Academy 2017

Acceptance of Participants
All applicants to the Organ Academy will be accepted. Please note, however, that the number of active workshop participants is limited. If you would like to be an active participant, you must fill in a curriculum vitae form when registering. The workshop leaders will select the active participants, who will be notified. Auditions may be held or recordings requested if necessary for the selection process. Those who are not accepted as active participants will automatically be accepted as observers.

Participant’s fees
Participant’s fee for participation in the Organ Academy (Friday 20 through Sunday 29 October): 2,500 SEK; 1,500 SEK (students/pensioners). The fee covers all events during the Academy.

It is also possible to participate by attending only the first weekend (Friday 20 through Sunday 22 October), the week programme (Friday 20 October through Thursday 26 October) or the second weekend (Friday 27 through Sunday 29 October). The fees for these options are:
Weekend-1: 20 through 22 October: 800 SEK; 650 SEK (students/pensioners).
Week program: 20 through 26 October: 2,000 SEK; 1,250 SEK (students/pensioners).
Weekend-2: 27 through 29 October: 850 SEK; 700 SEK (students/pensioners).
The fee covers all events during the option’s period.

Accommodation costs are not included in the course fee.

Also, day passes are available. A day pass gives you access to all Academy events for one day, including the morning workshops and afternoon seminars (where you may participate as an observer). Please, contact us by e-mail organ.academy@goart.gu.se if you want to order one or more day passes.

Cancellation and Refunds
Participants cancelling prior to September 15 will receive a full refund. After September 15, participants will receive a full refund minus a fee of SEK 500.

Please check the Swedish visa regulations concerning your country when making your travel arrangements. Information can be obtained from your nearest Swedish Embassy or Consulate, or from your travel agency.

Concert Tickets
Entry to all concerts of the 2017 Academy will be free for the Academy participants. No reservation is necessary for either Academy participants or members of the general public.

N.B. You should book your room as soon as possible! We have reserved a few rooms in two hotels at a discounted rate (first come, first served).

Centrally located rooms near the Academy of Music and Drama.
Available: five double rooms and five single rooms (breakfast included). These rooms will be available through September 11. Cash (Swedish currency only) or credit card payment on arrival.

The internet offers many hotel options, when you search for “hotel Göteborg.” By searching for “youth hostel Göteborg,” you can find a number of youth hostels. Basically, the websites that you will find are in Swedish, but if you click on the “language” flag in the top menu bar and change that into English, you will get a translation. If you find something that looks appropriate, we recommend that you phone or mail.

N.B. The Organ Academy office does not book hotel rooms. It is up to the individual to make the necessary reservations.
Since everyone who applies for the Organ Academy will be accepted, you can make your hotel reservation as soon as you have decided to attend.

The Organ Academy Information Office
The Organ Academy Information Office will be open during specified hours, and will be happy to answer all your questions about the Academy. The main office is located at the Academy of Music and Drama (Artisten). Artisten is in the middle of the city (street address: Fågelsången 1), near Götaplatsen, where the Concert Hall, the Art Museum and the City Theater are located.
Please register at the Office directly upon your arrival to receive your program along with your participant’s card, which admits you to all of the Academy events.

Opening hours during the first weekend:
Friday, October 20: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 2.00 – 4.30 pm (at Artisten, entrance hall, for registration)
Saturday, October 21: 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (please note, different location: Örgryte Parish House, Herrgårdsgatan 2)
Sunday, October 22: 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (at Artisten, entrance hall)

Further Information
The offical language of the Academy is English.

Private sound and video recordings of Organ Academy recitals are not allowed. (Recordings may be made by the Organ Academy staff and by Swedish Radio and Swedish Television).

Neither the University of Gothenburg (Academy of Music and Drama) nor the Göteborg International Organ Academy Association is responsible for any financial consequences due to loss, theft, illness, accident, etc. We advise participants to make appropriate insurance arrangements.

The Academy program may be subject to changes.

On request, each participant will receive a certificate of participation.
